Burnside Album Details

Snowbyrd, Diosdado

Diosdado is the new set from genre defying San Antonio combo Snowbyrd. The album title is derived from drummer Manny Castillo’s middle name, which translated literally from Spanish means “God given”. Castillo died in early 2009 at the age of 40 after a brief battle with lung cancer. The disc’s 14 tracks include 7 new compositions recorded with Grammy winning producer Joe Trevino just weeks before Castillo’s diagnosis. The remaining tracks were culled from the band’s archive of unreleased studio recordings with Manny. Diosdado is a simultaneous tribute to Manny’s singular, bombastic style and a document of the inimitable sound forged with longtime friends and band mates, the brothers Lutz. The band fuses disparate influences ranging Brit-pop, Prog-rock, Shoegaze and alt-country into something unique and distinctly Texan. In keeping with Castillo’s wishes Snowbyrd continue to perform regularly around San Antonio and in other major Texas cities.
