Produced by Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine), Paper Sky is the 5th Album from Minneapolis songwriter Ben Weaver. When crinkly synthesizer textures and blasts of processed trumpet meet Weaver’s harshly whispered poetics the result is hard to argue with – evocative, hushed songs populated by birds, phone booths, lovers, empty parking lots, friends, shoppers in the checkout line, and plastic bags stuck in trees. Paper Sky is not comparable to much you have heard before but it would make sense to listen to on either side of: Fennecz, Boards of Canada, Silver Jews, or maybe Miranda July doing her laundry.
