Edwards, T. Tex & The Swingin' Kornflake Killers, Up Against The Floor

On Up Against The Floor, T. Tex Edwards and Dallas compatriots the Swingin' Kornflake Killers roam the lyrical hinterlands of the great Southwest looking for women and whiskey. Splitting the musical difference between his previous work with the C & W oriented Out On Parole and the lo-fi trash rock of the Loafin' Hyenas this disc finds Tex croonin' to a heavy pedal steel driven soundtrack for a trailer park striptease. Familiar numbers like "Last Date" and "Lonely Blue Boy" blend right in with the Killers originals and more obscure covers like the sludgy psychedelic rendering of Bowie's "Black Country Rock" and Charlie McCoys "Funnel of Love". This is intellectual moonshine for honky-tonkin' garageophiles!
