After successfully headlining at Eurojazz '98, Amanda returned to Turin, Italy in the spring of 1999 to perform a live concert in a church tucked away at the base of the Alps in a tiny town called “San Giorgio”. Although this CD was an afterthought of the concert, it clearly demonstrates Amanda’s powerful vocal presence in a “live” concert setting. Luigi Martinale, acclaimed Italian jazz pianist, presents an emotional accompaniment to both the standards and original collaborations with Amanda, transcending the language barrier between the two. The instrumentals are generous on this recording as Amanda takes her place as an equal voice in the mix and allows the light to shine on each musician as they perform before their homeland audience. “Live in San Giorgio” is a very relaxing listen.
