Olney writes unique story songs, often with unsparing world view, and can belt 'em out like a man possessed, though he's just as likely to be subtle or funny. Most folks know him as a legendary folk-blues singer songwriter, live performer and recording artist. This 1991 recording has tinges of his 70s rcok leanings; his band the X-Rays opened performed on Austin City Limits, opened for Elvis Costello and the Attractions, and had a substantial following. Following the X-Rays, Olney released a half dozen albums on Philo in the story-telling folk vein that he continues to this day.
