Merrell Fankhauser has been making music for close to 50 years. As the founder of The Impacts, he wrote Wipe Out (subsequently a HUGE hit for the Surfaris). His musical exploits with Fapardokly and the H.M.S. Bounty are the fodder for crazed 60s collectors. But with Jeff Cotton (Antennae Jimmy Semens of Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band), he formed MU recording songs about the lost continent of MU from which the Hawaiian albums sprouted. A musical outsider who touches base with the talented often in life, The First Album was recorded in 1971 but spent many years before seeing the light of day. A classic lost album again available. To this day, Merrell continues to perform.
