Staehely, Al & The Explosives, Cadillac Cowboys EP

Two Texas music legends come together as one-time Spirit front man Al Staehely teams up with power pop rockers The Explosives. Al’s resume also includes songwriting for Keith Moon and a stint in the Gravenites / Cipollina Band. The Explosives rocked Texas and beyond in the eighties, reuniting to support their old friend Roky Erickson in the 21st Century. This time, they’re rocking with another of important Texan. This EP represents each period of Al’s career, with one song from his Spirit days (“Cadillac Cowboys”), one from the Gravenites / Cipollina Band (“Signs of Life”), the track recorded by Who drummer Keith Moon (“Crazy Like a Fox”), and a topical new rocker, just right for the mighty Explosives (“Who’s Gonna Bail Me Out?”). These four tracks capture one of music’s finest, as he powerfully proves that he still has muscle, energy, and rock and roll passion. Not to mention spirit.
